President - Stephanie Mutchler
The job of the President is to work closely with the Principal, teachers and parents to lead the PTA organizational activities throughout the school year. The job includes communicating all PTA programs and progress of goals to the school community. The PTA President prepares a master calendar that includes executive board meetings, PTA special events and president/principal meetings. The President also directs the PTA Board, directs the activities of the PTA in compliance to the bylaws and ensures that PTA Budget is maintained. The President helps welcome new family members to Piney Orchard Elementary School.
Vice President - Ashley McCauley
Assists the President and other officers as needed, attends all executive and general PTA meetings and performs duties of the President in her/his absence. Assists with Back-to-School planning and packets and school wide events. Manages one or more standing committees ensuring deadlines and commitments are met.
Secretary - Katie Waddell
Take minutes at each meeting and prepares a list of unfinished business at the end of each meeting. Brings a list of the bylaws and standing rules to each meeting, counts votes when necessary, co-authorizes payments, and leads meetings when the president and vice-president are not available. The secretary sends notices of each meeting to members, reads incoming correspondence at meetings and writes any outgoing correspondence on behalf of the PTA.
Treasurer - Sharon Ousman-Arjoon
The Treasurer maintains the PTA Financial records. Job duties include preparing expense reports, forecasts and the budget with Executive Board input and approval. The Treasurer maintains records for money spent, received or reimbursed. The job includes overseeing bill payment. Prepares, obtains approval and distributes checks to requestors. Reconciles bank statements monthly. Publishes monthly checking activity report to PTA Board. The Treasurer is responsible for working with the auditor to perform the annual audit. The job includes providing monthly financial reports for each PTA meeting and preparing the necessary documentation.
Teacher Rep -
Buildings & Grounds - VACANT
Buildings and Grounds Committee helps to improve the school and grounds, including interior projects when needed, and oversees the upkeep of those areas.
Cultural Enrichment - VACANT
Coordinate one of our most popular events! Here we choose a time period or country/region and showcase it at our school with food , entertainment, and lots of activities! Arrange with the main office to reserve the cafeteria to host this event. Coordinate with vendors for activities and food. Recruit volunteers to help lead activities.
Fundraising (Ways and Means) - Ashley McCauley
The Ways & Means Committee is responsible for selecting and running events that fund PTA programs. In addition, the PTA sponsors restaurant and skate night fundraisers, and runs the math-a-thon. Committee volunteers work with local vendors to sponsor events, produce fundraiser forms and information, and collect forms and payments.
Hospitality - Melanie Marx
The Hospitality Committee has the very enjoyable task of showing appreciation and support for our wonderful faculty and staff. The committee provides meals and small gifts throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to donate and/or shop for food and set-up and clean up from events.
Membership - Abby Stein
The Membership Committee runs our annual membership drive. Volunteers will assist in data entry, proofreading and distribution of membership cards.
Nominating Committee -
Marcie Balderson, Ashley McCauley, Sharon Ousman-Arjoon
The Nominating Committee will be accepting nominations for our open board positions, with elections to be held at the Annual Talent Show in May.
Reflections - VACANT
The Reflections Chair is responsible for the PTA Reflections program. The job duties include promotion of the program, working with the Art, Literature, and Musical teachers to stir up interest and input. The job includes processing paperwork with the District PTA office, submitting students work for judging, setting up school judges and selecting candidates to proceed to District, Regional and State PTA judging sessions.
Safety - VACANT
The Safety Committee works with the school to deliver District requirements for emergency preparedness. This person is the PTA representative to help review and replenish emergency and safety supplies.
School Kits - VACANT
Works with teachers, staff and SchoolKidz to create a list of supplies for the supply kits unique to each grade level. Orders are taken before the end of the school year. Ensures the receipt of the kits and passes them out to the students' home rooms before the first day of school.
Spirit Wear - VACANT
Hand out Spirit Wear order forms to students. Keep track of orders, submit order to outside vendor and distribute merchandise to students upon delivery.
Technology - Abbey Boudreau
Maintains the PTA school website; ensures relevant information is posted in a timely manner and is kept updated. Works with the PTA President and other Committee Chairs to ensure current information is posted to the website. Works closely with the School Administration and Office Staff to add school information to the website and add PTA information to the weekly eNews.
Volunteer Coordinator - Melanie Marx
Identify and recruit the many volunteers that make all of the PTA programs happen. Maintain database of volunteers for events at school: picture day, flu mist, math-a-thon, etc….
Wish Lists - Melanie Marx
Contact teachers and staff to submit wish list items through online form. Update and edit online form, and coordinate with the Technology Chair to post forms on the Wish List webpage.
Yearbook - Abbey Boudreau, Vanessa Harrod, Nina Thompson
The Yearbook Committee designs and creates the school’s yearbook working in conjunction with an outside vendor. The committee assists by volunteering on school picture day; taking and submitting pictures throughout the year; using vendor provided software to create yearbook pages; assisting with order form distribution; payment processing and yearbook delivery. All parents are welcome to submit pictures throughout the year!
