My name is Carolyn Fiume and I am co-chair of the committee. This committee provides lunch or snacks for the teachers and staff at Piney Orchard Elem one day a month. We also run Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

The teachers and staff love what we do and it really boosts their morale.

For those of you new to the committee, welcome. For those of you who are back from last year or have been on this for many years, thank you for coming back!!

Here is how it works: I will send an e-mail to you with the date and theme of that month’s lunch (ex. Desserts, Italian, Mexican etc…) and ask people to sign up. After you get back to me, I’ll send a list to the group of what each person is bringing. We serve 70 people each month. On the day of the event, just send your item into the office or bring it in by 10:30 am. Vickie in the office will know that items are coming. We will setup at 10:30am. The teachers and staff eat from 10:30am until 1:30 pm. We cleanup at 2 pm. I will need one volunteer to help with setup and cleanup each month (it can be a different person every month). We have access to 2 refrigerators-one in the office and the other in the teacher’s lounge where we serve the food.

Our first event is THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th and we will be serving DESSERTS. I have plates, napkins and utensils. We will need the following:

Five 12 packs of soda cans (regular, diet and sprite/7up type)
2 cases of water
1 veggie tray
1 fruit tray
Cookies
Brownies
Cakes
Cheesecake
Pies
Any other yummy dessert you can think of!
One volunteer for setup 10:15-11 am
One volunteer for cleanup 1:45-2:15 pm

Here are some tips: (1) Items do not have to be homemade. We are fine with store bought. (2) You can bring in a portion of an item. For example, two 12 packs of soda, 2 bottles salad dressing. (2) If you can’t manage to help one month, no problem. We are all busy parents. Please try to help the next month. (3) Please put your name on all of your utensils and dishes so I can get them back to your child’s teacher.
